Hello World, we’re (back) inside your computer.

After a looooong night of trawling though snap-shots and bantering over shot merits, we forced ourselves to whittle them down to the best, which you can now see here.

Congratulations London! You have won the 2008 Snap-Shot-City trans Atlantic duel!

NYC put in a valiant effort (especially considering the 40+C temps!) but LDN proved the better marksman (markscity??) on the day with the final score: NYC – 9 / LON – 11

Put the cameras down London, Snap-Shot-City is done!*

To complete the Snap-Shot duel London has answered to the New York challenge with equally amazing results. So its with a slightly groggy head post H&S party we say: “Well done everyone!”

As the dust settles over the next few days, our expert team of judges will review the shots and do our very best to settle the NYC vs. LDN score. Please refrain from any trans-Atlantic name calling during this period, however any emailed arguments for why your home town should win are encouraged, and please note that lucrative bribes would not be frowned upon!

Let’s go London Lets Go! Clap Clap.

The second half of the Snap-Shot-City duel is underway in London. Come on down and join us and all the fun at Hide & Seek at the Southbank Centre or download the list from here!

Don’t for get to head on down to the after party at Cosmo Bar, 50/54 Clerkenwell Road, EC1M 5PS from 7pm-ish… we’ll be showing shots from NCY and LDN and dancing up a storm!

Snap-Shot-City invites both Londonite’s and NewYawker’s to compete in a trans-Atlantic Snap-Shot duel. Rather than aiming to exterminate the opposition, Snap-Shot-City hopes to bring New York and London closer by celebrating the similarities, differences and mind boggling quirks of each.

What’s more, the New York vs London Snap-Shot-City duel will link two of the world’s biggest pervasive gaming festivals through pictures, New York’s Come Out & Play (which takes place on 6-8th June) and London’s own Hide & Seek (26-28th June).

Come September we will then turn our sights on the rest of the world, inviting civilians everywhere to represent their home town or city in one huge, simultaneous worldwide Snap-Shot-City shoot-out.

Now that we’ve finally landed…

Hello (again) World / City

It’s taken us over a week to come down from the giddy high of Snap-Shot-City going off all over the world – what a day!

Big hugs to all of you who played – we hope you had as much fun as we did and that you finished the game a little more in awe of your city than you started. If you missed playing on the day, make sure you check out the gallery – you’ll find some truly funny / shocking / inspiring / brilliant shots from all over the globe.

For the number lovers out there, Snap-Shot-City 2007 saw almost 100 teams play in over 70 cities across the world. From New York to Amsterdam, New Orleans to Christchurch, Dallas to Beijing, Melbourne to Banff, Brisbane to Santiago, Sydney to Singapore. We saw close to 2000 photos uploaded over the worldwide event. What’s more there were 7 official Snap-Shot-City parties …and, well, innumerable un-official beers drank while playing.

Hello world indeed!

So what’s up next?

The Snap-Shot-City crew will be short-listing shots in each category and handing them over to our fabulously talented judges to pick the trophy shots. We’ll let you know when these are uploaded into a winners gallery … and hopefully also where to find an exhibition in your local area (drop us a line if you want to host one!).

In the meantime, we’ll continue to ponder the two thoughts that have really stuck in our minds for the past week: 1. ‘This is not a super easy game (especially if you happen to be cycling around Amsterdam in a rain poncho with a map in one hand and a camera in the other*@!) and 2. ‘People can be amazing!’.
